The village of Schierano rises 418 meters above sea level.

Schierano is a village of rare beauty with its austere buildings in stone and exposed bricks, enclosed inward, which allow little to the visitor who remains equally enthralled.

Of particular interest are the medieval tower, the baroque church of S. Grato and the eighteenth-century chapel of S. Sebastiano.

The Malvasia di Castelnuovo don Bosco is obtained from the ancient Malvasia di Schierano vine, which has a black berry, with a delicately aromatic flavor. The Venetians imported the vine and the name from the Greek city of Monemvasia, located on the southeastern coast of the Peloponnese. Malvasia was also the name used to name wines from the eastern part of the Mediterranean and the premises in Venice where their trade took place.

The production disciplinary, approved on 20 September 1973 and modified on 28 February 1995, indicates the area of production of Malvasia di Castelnuovo don Bosco the territories of the municipalities of: Albugnano, Castelnuovo don Bosco, Passerano Marmorito, Pino d'Asti, Berzano and Moncucco, and specifies that only hillside vineyards located in clayey-calcareous soils should be considered suitable for cultivation.
The maximum yield of grapes should not exceed 110 quintals per hectare, but today many winemakers provide for the thinning of the bunches to improve the quality.
